Slimmed-down Slurpees

For years, 7-Eleven has fielded calls from customers requesting one thing: diet Slurpees.

Well, this month, the convenience store made countless Slurpee fanatics happy.

Introducing Slurpee Lite:

The newest flavor, Slurpee Lite Fanta Sugar-free Mango, is, as the name suggests, sugar-free (it’s sweetened with Splenda) and contains only 20 calories per 8-ounce serving. (But really, who gets an 8-ounce Slurpee?)

For comparison, a regular Fanta Wild Cherry Slurpee contains 66 calories per serving. (7-Eleven doesn’t offer a sugar-loaded Fanta Mango flavor).

If you want to try the new low-cal Slurpee for free, you’re in luck. This week, 7-Eleven will host a SlurpFREE Day.

Visit 7-Eleven between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. May 23 for a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee.

7-Eleven has several Slurpee Lite flavors planned for the upcoming Slurpee season.

In July, the company will introduce Fanta Sugar-free Strawberry Banana, followed by Fanta Sugar-free Cherry Limeade in August.

A company spokeswoman told MSNBC the sugar-free Slurpee requests came from not only people watching their weight, but also diabetics and people with other nutritional issues.
