Need a workout partner? Look no further
Need some motivation to stick to that New Year’s resolution to drop a few pounds? What about a workout partner?
The Oregon Humane Society has the perfect pet.
Meet Walter:
Walter tips the scale at 28 pounds – one of the largest cats ever seen by the staff of the Oregon Humane Society.
“This cat is looking for a workout partner to help him lose weight in the new year,” said Sharon Harmon, OHS executive director. “Obese cats are no laughing matter, and we will give a free bag of low-calorie cat food and a laser pointer for exercise to whoever adopts Walter.”
What better motivation?
When you get home from working out at the gym, you can give Walter a workout with the laser pointer. If you’re not opposed to strange stares from people, you can leash Walter and take him on a walk around the block with you.
Even better? Walter’s adoption fee is only $12 if you adopt him before the end of January through the Humane Society’s Lucky 12 promotion.
I’ll leave you with this not-so-fun fact: About two-thirds of American adults are overweight or obese. Our feline friends, apparently, aren’t too far behind. In the U.S., about 53 percent of cats are overweight.
