Our Readers Are Smart

On Tuesday, we had a question about which Stanford player has finished the highest in the Heisman voting. The answer we listed was John Elway, who was second in 1982. This must have come as quite a shock to Jim Plunkett, who won the award for Stanford in 1970.

Fortunately, I had many, many e-mails and phone calls pointing out the error. This is a good thing. We don’t like making mistakes, but it’s nice to know our readers are paying attention.

So, thanks to all of you who pointed out the mistake. I apologize for the error.
