Kara Patterson Shows Courage

Valiant effort by Kara Patterson, who competed in the Olympics on Tuesday despite having a torn ACL. Patterson finished 31st in the qualifying round of the women’s javelin, unable to reach the top 12 and advance to the finals.

Patterson suffered the injury last month at the Olympic Trials but, as I wrote a couple weeks ago, she was unwilling to reveal the extent of the injury. She disclosed after the competition Tuesday that it was a torn ACL and that it will require surgery.
