Still More On Oregon’s Heisman Candidates
Being intrigued by the whole Heisman debate between LaMichael James and Darron Thomas, I decided to expand upon it.
Well, maybe there’s not a debate, but I have been doing my best to create one, like here and here. Anyway, for the quarterback vs. running back question, I decided to ask Hugh Millen, who knows a thing or two about the subject. I wrote about that for a column that ran Saturday.
Of course, all of that was before Thomas threw for 288 yards against Southern Cal, while James ran for 239. Bottom line: Oregon’s offense is a runaway freight train.
But how would that offense fare against the most renowned defense ever to come out of these parts: The 1991 Washington Huskies? I don’t know, but Matt Calkins will have a column about the topic in Friday’s paper. Matt talked with the Dawgfather, Don James, and he has some interesting things to say about the subject.
