Thoughts On Brett Favre

Brett Favre has decided that he is going to retire. Until he decides that he isn’t. And while I can understand people being sick of the waffling the past couple years, I think it’s a good time to revisit this story.

Favre isn’t perfect. But the Sports Illustrated article when he was their Sportsman of the Year in 2007 is a good reminder of why he meant so much to so many people over the years. There are some great anecdotes about his ability and willingness to connect with people from all walks of life.

At least we can be thankful for one thing: He’s not announcing his retirement in a one-hour ESPN special with an interview at a Boys & Girls Club.
