Blazers Say Yes To Camby; Why Not Pritchard?

The Blazers have signed Marcus Camby to a two-year contract extension, and that’s a good thing. But there’s one aspect of the signing that is either non-sensical or hypocritical:

Just one month ago, there was much talk about Kevin Pritchard’s future with the organization. Which led to this from team president Larry Miller: “Well, the reality is, the way this organization has worked and the way most organizations have worked is, you’ve got to get to the end of the season and you evaluate what’s gone on.”

Good strategy. But why doesn’t it apply in Camby’s situation? If the team can make a commitment to Camby and announce it right in the middle of a playoff series, I don’t see why it couldn’t give a shout out to Pritchard in March.
