Easter Side Dishes
This Sunday is Easter, are you ready? What is your family doing to celebrate this year? Perhaps you are hosting the family gathering or headed to grandma’s house! Have you decided on what you’ll be contributing to the feast?
When I am hosting, it’s very easy to decide on the main part of the meal but side dishes may be hard to choose. For me, there are always so many choices IĀ deliberateĀ for quite a while trying to come up with what will be the tastiest and also the easiest to prepare. Being able to plan ahead and even do some cooking ahead is a plus when you are expecting a houseful of loved ones for any event.
Potatoes are always a must at any family gathering. The choices are almost endless and the best part is they are almost always gluten-free or extremely easy to convert to gluten-free. Mashed potatoes are a huge favorite in my house. Another favorite dish is Fancy Baked Potatoes, they are beautiful, taste amazing and are simple to prepare. What could be better?
Our family dinners always have a couple of salads, from veggie to fruit, we love them all. Coleslaw is one of my favorites to serve. It’s easily prepared ahead of time, just don’t add the dressing until you are about ready to serve.
Fruit salads are always perfect and can often be made ahead of time, even the day before. Orange Creamsicle Jello Salad is a huge favorite with my kids. I don’t make it often but when I do, it doesn’t last long! Best part of it is, I can make it the day before. One less thing to do the day of the dinner.
There are many side dish options for your family’s gathering this weekend. Check out Gling’s for more ideas. All gluten-free and very tasty!
Have a wonderful time making memories with your loved ones. Take the kids to an area egg hunt and enjoy some tasty food around your family’s table. Happy Easter!
