The Ridgefield Thanksgiving Project

Image
Seventeen years ago, several families in the north end of Ridgefield wanted their young children to learn the value of volunteering. They came up with the idea of providing Thanksgiving dinners to needy families in the Ridgefield area.

This project has grown, as have the children, who are now young adults. They still come back home to help deliver Thanksgiving baskets to those in need. The baskets cost about $40, and provide a turkey, 5-10 pounds of potatoes, dressing, corn, beans, gravy, homemade rolls, milk, pumpkin pie, olives, cranberry sauce, whipped cream and butter.

Last year the group served 266 people from 55 families. This year they need to raise another $1450 before November 15th to serve another 55 families.

Donations of food or money are welcome. Send checks made out to Carla Bonebrake to PO Box 1055, Ridgefield, WA 98642. If you have questions you can contact Carla at 601-8662, or Marney Hefflin at 606-9815.

You can be a participant in providing 55 families in our area a wonderful Thanksgiving through your generous donation. The best thing is the families are not named, so no one knows who the baskets go to.
