Help us map your memories of JFK
Every generation has one, a day of infamy as President Franklin D. Roosevelt described the Pearl Harbor attack that occurred on Dec. 7, 1942.
For my generation, it’s easily Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked airplanes and brought down the World Trade Center in New York and crashed into the Pentagon.
For baby boomers, though, one could argue it’s Nov. 22, 1963, the day President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas, Texas. Like other infamous historical markers, it is one of those moments when someone can tell you where they were and what they were doing when they first heard the news.
With that in mind, we’re hoping to map out just where you were on that day and we’re hoping you’ll also tell us what you were doing and how you reacted to the news of JFK’s horrifying death that’s become the subject of investigations, books, movies and more.
We’re off to a good start as you can see on the map below, but we’d love to share more of your memories, which you can do by quickly filling out this very basic form. We’ll be publishing some memories in print as well as online through this map. Don’t be shy.
