On Saturday, August 27 from noon – 9 p.m. Heisen House Vineyards hosts their third festival in a four-part series; the Sunflower Festival.

For me it’s a tie between the Lavender Festival and the Sunflower Festival as to which one is my favorite. As a self-proclaimed Francophile, I love all things lavender but who doesn’t smile at a field of sunflowers?

As an homage to the bright yellow flower with an edible head that birds swoon over, Heisen House will host a full day of local music, arts and crafts, food, winetasting and activities for the little ones.

This all-ages event is sure to be an annual affair and all donations (suggested $5 per adult) go toward replacing the roof the barn—listed on the State and National Historic Registers.

Spend a day in the country and melt your cares away with some locally-crafted wines and a selection of folk, blues, jazz and bluegrass.

Music line up:

12:00 p.m. – Marianne Flemming

1:00 p.m. – Mollie and Me

2:00 p.m. – Mel Sutherland

3:00 p.m. – Tevis Hodge Jr.

4:00 p.m. – Dan Dingman

5:00 p.m. – Michael Riopelle

6-9 p.m. – Echoes of Yagers

My most prized possessions are the memories of places I've been with my husband, the chance encounters we've been blessed to have along the way and my carry-on bag. I can often be seen around town and in tasting rooms with our two beautiful, double-Merle Australian shepherds, Challenge and Baby Girl.
