Record Cold July! More To Come?
I am certainly not the first person to comment on how cold it has been this July so far. It is all over the media today and other blogs as well. So, lets talk about it. To date, Portland is averaging just 66 degrees for the month of July. That is down right chilly. In fact, it is the coldest July since 1993. The next 7+ days looks like more of the same — cool, cloudy weather! One system after another will slide down the British Columbia Coast right over the Pacific Northwest. Is this getting old or what? Portland has only reached 87 degrees so far this entire calendar year and that was just last week. Summer has yet to make a full blown appearance. There is only one other year in Portland history to NOT make it to 90 degrees at least once in the calendar year and that was 1954 when the maximum temperature for the entire year was just 86 degrees. Will 2011 make the record books as another year that does not make it to 90 degrees at least once??? As I always say, “stay tuned.”
