Could Portland Hit 90 This Weekend?
This post is dedicated to a good friend of mine (Ryan Underhill) who appreciates it when I deliver an accurate forecast. He also never lets me forget a forecast that could have been better. This time I will deliver an accurate one! 🙂
Sun lovers take note — 90 degrees may just pay a visit to a location near you this weekend. The chances of Portland / Vancouver seeing its first 90 degree temperature of the year is looking like it may just happen, FINALLY! Neither location has reached 90 degrees this calendar year. If the latest model data out this afternoon verifies, it looks like Portland will fall somewhere between 89 and 91 tomorrow (Saturday) with a little cooling on Sunday. The 12z run of the WRF model shows just enough of a low level Northeasterly then slightly Easterly flow tomorrow that we may just see 90! The NAM shows a high in the lower 80’s. I am discounting the NAM.
So, what the heck! I am jumping on board and calling for high tomorrow in Portland of 90 right on the nose, thus we will end the drought of 90 degree-less days. The final high tomorrow will all depend on exactly how much low level offshore flow we get. It could end up at 89 degrees or it could make it all the way to 92 degrees. No matter what, it will be a great weekend to get outside and enjoy nearly perfect weather and a great Timbers game Saturday night. Game time temps should be in the lower 80’s. Have a great weekend!
