Late Season Snow & Cold
An unseasonably cold trough of low pressure is sliding down over the Pacific Northwest from the gulf of Alaska, bringing snow to very low elevations for this time of the year. Snow has been reported to as low as 500ft across the Portland / Vancouver area this morning. The latest date to see at least a trace of snowfall at the Portland International Airport (period of record 1940-2011) is April 26th 1955. After briefly reaching the first 60 degree high temperature of the season last week, temperatures across the metro area are trending colder for Washington’s spring break. February was nearly three degrees below normal at the Portland International Airport, after nearly two degrees below normal in March.
