Peterson's story comment deja vu

Republican legislative candidate Debbie Peterson is making the rounds on Northwest news websites to express her support for state Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver.

Benton has made headlines lately for threatening to sue his political rival in this year’s election: state Rep. Tim Probst, D-Vancouver. Puget Sound and Portland media organizations picked up on the story. Here’s the response Peterson left at the bottom of a story on The Oregonian’s website:

Peterson must have really liked how she worded that comment. She copy and pasted the exact same thing on The Olympian’s website, twice.

She also posted the same comment underneath an editorial about the economy that Probst wrote for the Seattle-based PubliCola blog.

Peterson appears to be taking the campaign mantra “stay on message” to heart. Does Peterson have a Google alert set up to keep tabs on Benton, I wonder? Or did an Internet spambot, who also really likes Benton, usurp Peterson’s online identity?

Perhaps Peterson hopes all the promotional support she’s giving Benton will come back to help her in her own race. Peterson is running in the 49th District against incumbent state Rep. Sharon Wylie, D-Vancouver.
