State of emergency
On Thursday, Gov. Jay Inslee showed up in a hard hat and orange vest to survey the damage the Woodland landslide had caused.
While speaking to reporters, he said he’s getting tired of having to declare state of emergencies.
On Wednesday afternoon, he declared a state of emergency after hard rains blasted the state, causing deep pools of water that stranded motorists and eroded roadways.
“We’ve had one of the worst fire seasons ever, floods, drought,” he told reporters on Thursday.
Inslee, has declared a state of emergency as a result of wildfires, mudslides, severe windstorms and drought.
OK, fair enough, when you put it like that it does sound a bit apocalyptic.
Across the river, Oregon’s Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency on Thursday, as heavy winds ripped through cities across the river.
Although it sounds dramatic, and it can be, declaring a state of emergency allows cities or counties hit hard to receive state revenue to help with responding and cleanup.
