Deputies aren't breaking campaign laws

A few people who have driven past the Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s central precinct, 11608 N.E. 149th St., have wondered about political signs that appear to be on the county’s property.

They are not.

Chief Criminal Deputy Mike Evans said the question gets asked every political season, so he has a ready answer: There is a sliver of land between the state right-of-way and county property. It is owned by Emil F. Riemer, according to county records.

So it is Riemer, and not the county, displaying signs for 18th District legislative candidate Ann Rivers and Tony Golik, who is running for Clark County Prosecuting Attorney.
