Fish meeting schedule

Here are several dates to put down on your calendar if interested in Columbia River and ocean salmon fishing in 2011.

Dec. 17 — The Columbia River Compact will meet by teleconference to adopt regulations for winter commercial sturgeon fishing.

Jan. 7-8 — The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet in the Natural Resources Building, Room No. 172, 1111 Washington St. S.E. Olympia. A decision on how much more to reduce the total sport-commercial harvest of sturgeon in the lower Columbia River will be made, plus a hearing will be held on the allocation of summer chinook in 2011-2013.

Feb. 4-5 — The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet in the Natural Resources Building, Room No. 172, 1111 Washington St. S.E. Olympia. The allocation decision on summer chinook will made.

Feb. 8 — The Columbia River Compact will adopt the initial dates for commercial spring chinook fishing. Washington and Oregon will have a joint state hearing to adopt sport-fishing regulations for the Columbia River. A location for the meeting has not be determined yet.

March 1 — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will have public meeting in Olympia to talk about salmon stocks for 2011 and potential ocean and inland fishing seasons.

March 14 — The Washington and Oregon departments of Fish and Wildlife will have a public meeting in the Vancouver area to discuss the three preliminary options for ocean salmon fishing, Buoy 10 and fall fishing in the lower Columbia River.

April 9-14 — The Pacific Fishery Management Council will adopt the 2011 ocean salmon fishing seasons. The meeting will be in San Mateo, Calif.
