Hunting dog training

Here’s an interesting nugget: Oregon wildlife director Roy Elicker says “a significant portion of hunting dog training and field trial activities going on in Oregon is probably in violation of state rule and statute.”
Elicker is going to put together an advisory committee including representatives of commercial hunting dog trainers, houndsmen, falconers, bird propagators, bird hunters and others to develop a package of rules to remedy the situation.
This is personally interesting to me, having trained a golden retriever to an American Kennel Club senior hunter title. Much of the training was done on Sauvie Island and many of the hunting tests were on the island, too.
