Ghost pet?

One night I turned off the lights and crawled into bed.
As soon as I was falling asleep something somewhat heavy with four legs jumped on my bed and walked across me, stepping on my legs and finally jumping off.
I heard a loud thud when it jumped to the floor.
The most scary part was I could hear its claws getting caught in the carpet as it was walking.
As soon as I turned on the lights it was gone.
Pretty scary for someone who had no pets! Never happened again.
