Organ Recital at St. Luke’s
You are invited to attend the third and final dedicatory recital which will properly introduce the new Steinway B piano to the Vancouver community on Saturday, March 14 at St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas Episcopal Church.
Music begins at 7 pm.
The guest performers for Saturday’s recital are Tim and Nancy LeRoi Nickel, pianists playing one piano with four hands. The LeRoi-Nickel Duo has been researching, arranging, and presenting ensemble keyboard music for over 25 years. As a piano duet team, Timothy and Nancy LeRoi-Nickel have performed twice at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York and gave their UK debut at the Purcell Room in 1990 after studying at the Guildhall School in London.
The Duo has performed the small but intriguing organ duet repertory throughout the Pacific Northwest and at concerts in England, France, and Germany. Now they are our featured artists playing at the final dedication recital. They will play the music of Poulenc’s Sonate from 1918, which sounds like a final WWI cannon barrage at the beginning and is contrasted by a second movement marked “naïve and slow”, played only on the white keys.
Other pieces will include Schubert’s haunting F minor Fantasy, Faure’s Dolly Suite and some Brahms Hungarian Dances. There is ample parking and admission is free, with donations accepted to support the continuation of musical events at St. Luke’s.
