New Bathrooms at Abrams
Today an impromptu groundbreaking was held to mark the beginning of construction of a new bathroom in Abrams Park. The people in the picture are Bryan Kast, Ridgefield Public Works Director; Don Stose, Ridgefield City Councilor;Sven Johnson, Project Manager for JRT Mechanical and Ridgefield Mayor Ron Onslow.
For a little background, the previous Abrams Park Restroom building was past its useful service life and was in need of replacement. In 2015 the City commissioned a design for a masonry structure to replace the existing wood building. The new building will have the same number of stalls as the former restroom, but will have a slightly smaller footprint due to better utilization of internal space.
Because Opening Day for Ridgefield Little League is March 19, the City created an expedited construction timeline to have the restroom completed by March 18. The City received six bids on the project, with the lowest responsive bid of $201,602.32 falling in line with earlier estimates even with the bonus of an expedited timeline. JRT Mechanical of Battle Ground was the chosen bidder and is already on-site working.
