Opus School of Music’s Autumnal Concert
Opus School of Music’s Fourth Annual Autumnal Concert is Sunday, November 24th from 3:00-5:00 at The Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield. It features three bands: In My Car, Avant-Garde, and Deciduous. It is an all ages, family-friendly concert, open to the public. Tickets are $10 and available at the door or at Opus. Here are some details.
In My Car was formed this year out of the 4th of July Band that played on the Opus float, which won best commercial float, and played on the main stage after the parade. They went on to perform around the region for various festivals throughout the summer, most notably at CouvaPalooza at Clark College headlined by Portland’s own national act, Everclear. The band is fronted by Nikki Hubert who is becoming somewhat of a local celebrity performing with various groups all around the region and Garrett Walter who won first place in the high school talent show this past year and performs regularly at Vinnies Pizza and Alcove Art Gallery. They will be performing a four song set of music from psychedelia and progressive rock including Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Avant-Garde was formed this summer and has played for Heritage Days and other events in the community. They will be performing a four song set of Metallica, Blondie among others.
Deciduous was formed specifically for this concert and is our youngest band made up of 9-12 year-olds who will be performing a three song set: Home by Phillip Phillips, Safe and Sound by Capital Cities and On Top of The World by Imagine Dragons.
The Old Liberty Theater is at 115 North Main Avenue.
