A large group of people showed up at the Sportsman’s Bar and Grill last night to celebrate the life of James Pfeifer and raise money for his family. Thanks to everyone who attended, the many people who donated items for a silent auction, Terry Hurd of the Sportsman’s, who planned most of the evening and donated 10% of all food sales to the cause.
The Ridgefield Business sponsored the event, and the Chris Bidleman Trio played some wonderful arrangements of songs suggested by attendees. These guys can really get you moving! Budweiser donated a keg of beer, and all proceeds from the sale of that keg went to the band.
Geni Fontyn won the 50/50 raffle. Geni told me she’d known James since before he was born. Their families grew up together.
In Mayor Ron Onslow’s welcoming speech, he commented that this event is so typical of the way people in Ridgefield support each other. We live in a great town!
If you were unable to come to the fund raiser, there’s still time to donate. Both Sterling Bank and Columbia Credit Union have accounts set up in James’ name.
