Janet Ellis is the featured artist for December at Alcove Art Gallery. Her show, “Christmas: Reflections in Glass” features recent works that showcase her fused glass artwork.
Janet’s exploration in the world of fused glass art has been evolving for over ten years. She began by creating functional art pieces (plates, dishes, bowls), but soon explored the world of jewelry creation. Large pieces require careful, detailed planning, but making jewelry is a more fluid process. Janet frequently allows her jewelry designs to evolve and emerge as she works. She experiments with multiple glass layers of differing shapes, sizes, textures and colors. As her designs emerge from the kiln, there are both purposeful and unexpected patterns, voids and asymmetrical components.
