Free tickets for the public will be available Thursday, Aug. 16, for the upcoming Governors’ Debate in Southwest Washington. Washington State University Vancouver (WSUV) will host the debate between Jay Inslee and Rob McKenna. The debate will be held from 8 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and will be broadcast live on KATU-TV. Brian Wood, KATU anchor, will host.
Tickets will be distributed to the public on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8 a.m. on Aug. 16. Sign up by going to the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce website at www.vancouverusa.com. Click on “Events,” then click on “Debate.” There is a limit of one ticket per person, and 40 tickets are available. Those without Internet access can call 360-694-2588.
Of the 190 tickets, 25% have been distributed to local communities throughout Clark County, 25% have been set aside for the public, and 25% have been distributed to schools and community groups. The gubernatorial election campaigns have received the remaining 25 percent. KATU and The Columbian are collecting questions from readers and viewers.
