Unusual Goose Spotted in Ridgefield
With all the rain we’ve been having, and Ridgefield’s proximity to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, we sometimes see unusual birds in our area.
This goose was recently spotted floating in a seasonable pond near downtown. After considerable discussion, it was decided it was a decoyiisi ridgefieldiana.plasticissi. There are very few of these in existence, and [FYI][1] would like to hear of any others being spotted in the area. Perhaps this is a new breeding ground for them?
There was some discussion about naming it the Ridgefield City Bird, but the goose seemed too lifeless to be representative of our town.
