Camby arrested on marijuana charge
Trail Blazers center Marcus Camby was arrested by police in Pearland Texas Monday and charged with marijuana possession, according to a report on YourHoustonNews.com.
The report indicates that officers pulled the 37-year-old over in his black Porsche near midnight when he was seen driving with a sun screen device blocking the front window. Officers then questioned Camby and a passenger identified as Kendal Lance Johnson, 25.
The report goes on to say that officers later noticed the smell of marijuana, received Camby’s permission to search the car, and discovered several marijuana cigarettes and baggie with a small amount of marijuana hidden under the front seat. Both Camby and Johnson denied ownership of the drug.
Camby and Johnson were arrested and then released on $2,000 bail. Camby, a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year, could face up to a year in jail and a potential $4,000 fine if convicted.
