McMillan to undergo surgery for ruptured Achilles tendon
As originally reported here, Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan sustained an injury today while practicing with the team. The extent of McMillan’s injury was not known following practice, and he participated in a post-workout interview session while sitting on a trainer’s bench with an iced ankle. However, the Blazers recently announced that McMillan ruptured his right Achilles tendon, and will undergo surgery Dec. 7 to address the injury.
From the press release:
PORTLAND — Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan will undergo surgery Dec. 7 to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon.
McMillan sustained the injury during Friday’s practice and will miss Portland’s upcoming four-game road trip to New York, Indiana, Cleveland and Milwaukee. He will coach Saturday’s game vs. Houston.
Lead assistant coach Dean Demopoulos will serve as the team’s head coach in McMillan’s absence.
