Spencer Stuart’s Hughes guiding search firm, source says

Jed Hughes, a consultant for international search firm Spencer Stuart, is leading the Portland Trail Blazers’ search for a new general manager, a league source said.

While Blazers president Larry Miller has said he is guiding the search and is in charge of the overall process, the source said Hughes has reached out to prospective candidates.

Hughes was in charge of the recent search process to replace former Oregon men’s basketball coach Ernie Kent.

In addition, Spencer Stuart helped lure Pete Carroll to the Seattle Seahawks from the University of Southern California.

Blazers owner Paul Allen also owns the Seahwaks.
