Przybilla undergoes successful surgery

Portland Trail Blazers center Joel Przybilla underwent successful surgery Monday to repair his reruptured right patella tendon, the team said. A timetable has not been set for his return.

The 7-foot-1, 245-pound Przybilla reinjured the tendon Saturday morning after slipping in the shower at his home in Milwaukee, Wis., where he was undergoing rehabilitation.

Przybilla originally tore the tendon Dec. 22 during a game against Dallas. The 10-year NBA veteran underwent season-ending surgery Dec. 24, and was 10 weeks into a comeback that was supposed to have him ready for training camp next season. Now, Przybilla could miss the start of the 2010-11 campaign.

Przybilla, 30, has been with the Blazers since 2004. He holds a player option worth $7.4 million to remain in Portland next season.

Przybilla averaged 4.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for the Blazers this year, alternating between a starting and backup role.
