Blazers’ McMillan, Roy discuss Heat, Wade
Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy and coach Nate McMillan discussed tonight’s home game against the Miami Heat, following a morning shootaround at the team’s practice facility in Tualatin, Ore.
Roy on the Heat:
They’re a pick-and-roll team, especially with (Dwyane) Wade. And they put some shooters around him, so that way if you really try to load up on him, he’s got some options. But it starts and stops with him. So we’ve got to do a good job of not just one guy, but the entire team guarding him, trying to keep him out of our paint and off the free-throw line.
On Wade:
He’s definitely one of the top three players in the league, arguably. But he’s just so fast, explosive, and he’s just a big-game player. He’s definitely one of the top guys in this league.
McMillan on Wade:
Dwayne Wade is the guy who they’re pretty much going to play off of a lot. He’s an unbelievable player that can create a lot of problems; opens the floor. He attacks and forces teams to double team him. And they have guys who can spread the floor and shoot the ball. Defensively, he’s one of the top guys in stealing on the defensive end of the floor. So, it’s a guy that where we’ve seen this type of player, where we’ve got to keep him out of the paint, and not allow him to get into the paint and get to the free-throw line where he can really hurt you.
