Practice notes: Fernandez, McMillan, Batum

Notes following the Portland Trail Blazers’ practice Wednesday morning at the team’s workout facility in Tualatin, Ore.

Blazers coach Nate McMillan said guard Rudy Fernandez (left quadriceps strain) attempted to run but ended up sitting out the practice. Fernandez told the media he feels better, but it is highly unlikely will play Thursday against Dallas at the Rose Garden. McMillan said Fernandez did not run, but did shoot a little and stretched with the team.

“We’ll see,” McMillan said. “It’s day-to-day. He’ll come out tomorrow; he’ll get more treatment today. Get treatment tomorrow morning, and see what he can do a shootaround tomorrow, and kind of go from there.”

McMillan said the Blazers worked on both ends of the floor during Wednesday’s practice, which ran more than two hours.

“Being consistent with what we need to do there,” McMillan said.

Blazers forward Nicolas Batum said he will guard Dallas’ Caron Butler, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki during Thursday’s game.

“They’ve got a great team,” Batum said.
