The Lakers’ current existence as a reality TV show and media commodity may have reached its peak. Because of that we are dropping a special double-episode. On Tuesday we talked about their 40-point loss in Utah on Byron Scott’s birthday where we also talked about real basketball stuff. We were going to wait to record until later in the week. However, the latest drama involving D’Angelo Russell, Nick Young and his fiance Iggy Azalea, another recurring character on the show, forced us into an emergency podcast.

“The Real Lakers of Los Angeles” weren’t the only reality show to make moves on The Bulls vs. Blazers Network of reality shows. “Love & Hip-Hop: Sacramento” made major news this morning when they agreed to a contract extension with Vice President of Basketaball Operations, Vlade Divac, who has been their lead basketball decision maker for the past year. The sub-headline is that they brought in former Milwaukee Assistant GM David Morway, someone who actually knows that they are doing, to help their understanding of the collective bargaining agreement.

We did have another episode earlier this week that has a little more basketball coverage and less stuff on The Network’s best reality shows.

After talking about the Lakers loss on Tuesday’s episode, we went into a lengthy discussion on the Eastern Conference playoff picture and how it’s actually pretty good. It might be better than the West this year and the first round match-ups in the East are looking much better than what we might get in the West. We also discussed whether we think it’s possible the Cavaliers don’t make it to the Finals and which teams in the East could keep them from getting there. We also touched on Chris Paul’s decision to pull out from Team USA and how that changes who might be going to Rio.
