Blazers To Wear Plaid “Dr. Jack” Patches To Honor Late Coach Jack Ramsay Throughout Playoffs
Portland Trail Blazers team President Chris McGowan announced through his twitter account @blazerschris that the team will be honoring legendary coach Jack Ramsay with a “Dr. Jack” patch on their jerseys throughout the playoffs.
McGowan attached this note along with an image of the patch (seen above) and how it will look like on Portland’s jerseys.
“@blazerschris: Our team will be wearing these “Dr. Jack 77″ patches for the remainder of the playoffs.”
Ramsay, a Hall of Fame coach, helped coach the Blazers to the franchise’s only title in 1977 and he passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of 89 earlier this week.
The Blazers, with the patches honoring Dr. Jack, will take the court tonight against the Houston Rockets at 6:30 on TNT and KGW with a chance to advance past the first round of the playoffs for the first time in 14 years.
According to a release from the team, they will honor Ramsay at the next home game:
When the Trail Blazers return to their Moda Center home court — either for Game 6 on Friday, May 2 vs. Houston or a to-be-determined date in the Western Conference Semifinals, remembrances of Ramsay will continue. Those plans will be announced tomorrow.
