Markieff Morris suspended for season-opener against Blazers

The NBA announced on Thursday that Markieff Morris of the Phoenix Suns will be suspended for one game for an elbow thrown at Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka.

Markieff, who is on the same team as his twin brother Marcus, started 32 games last year for the Suns as he mainly plays power forward.

Without Morris, Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic says that it’s a possibility that former Blazer and Portland resident Channing Frye could start in his place.

Coro also notes that Miles Plumlee has also gotten a start at power forward.

No matter what, however, Markieff Morris won’t be the one starting against LaMarcus Aldridge.
