Blazers scheduled to meet with Jazz's Matthews, source says

The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to soon meet in person with Utah Jazz guard Wesley Matthews, a league source said Thursday.

The Blazers made initial contact with Matthews on July 1, shortly after the NBA free-agent market opened.

Matthews is a restricted free agent. The Jazz would have the opportunity to retain the second-year guard and match any offer Portland would make.

Chad Buchanan, Blazers director of college scouting, said Thursday it is highly unlikely the team will make an immediate offer to a free agent.
