Buchanan gives his take on Wall, Turner

Point guard John Wall (Kentucky) and shooting guard Evan Turner (Ohio State) are expected to be chosen as the No. 1 and 2 overall picks in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Chad Buchanan, Portland Trail Blazers director of college scouting, weighs in with his take on each prospect.

Buchanan on Wall: “I think he’s a spectacular talent. I think he’s a franchise point guard. He’s got all the physical tools, and he’s got all the intangibles to go with it. Obviously, like any young point guard and any young player, he has some areas of his game that he can improve. I think he will, because he’s a very hungry kid. A competitive kid. And I just think he has all the tools to be a very good NBA point guard.”

On Turner: “He’s got a lot of the intangibles as well. High basketball intelligence. Knows how to make plays for himself and for others. He’s a guy who I think you can put the ball in his hands, and he’s going to make a lot of things happen for you. He’s not just a score-first guy. He gets guys shots. He rebounds. Great vision. He’s got great size. Improving as a shooter. And I think he’s going to be a fantastic NBA player. But he needs to be in a situation where a coach lets him go make plays — he needs the ball in his hands to really impact the game.”
