ROY, TRAIL BLAZERS PARTNER TO PLANT COMMUNITY
GARDEN AT GILBERT HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY TOMORROW
Event doubles as March’s final Read to Achieve assembly
WHO: Trail Blazers all-star Brandon Roy, Toyota, Fred Meyer and Burger King
WHAT: The Portland Trail Blazers, Toyota and Fred Meyer are teaming up with Portland Parks & Recreation to tip-off Gilbert Heights Elementary School’s gardening program, giving fifth grade students the tools and resources needed to learn about community gardening.
The event will also double as the Trail Blazers, Toyota and Burger King’s final Read to Achieve assembly of Reading Month. The assembly recognizes the school’s outstanding readers, features contests between students and teachers and a donation of books for the school’s library.
The Trail Blazers will continue to host Read to Achieve assemblies with alumni throughout the remainder of the school year.
WHEN: March 30th
2 p.m. – Read to Achieve assembly
2:40 p.m. – Ceremonial garden planting
