Update: Roy unlikely to play against Clippers

Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy said Tuesday morning he is unlikely to play against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Rose Garden.

Roy, who is recovering from a strained right hamstring, stated that he plans to run through warmup drills at full speed and prepare for the game as if he is going to play. But Roy cautioned that he is still feeling pain due to the injury, and still sees a Friday contest versus Boston as a more likely return.

Roy expressed concern that his hamstring has yet to heal. He has missed 12 consecutive games and 14 of Portland’s last 15 contests. He again discussed playing with pain for the remainder of the season. And he mentioned that he was disheartened to recently learn that some players who suffer hamstring pulls still feel pain after more than a decade.
