Blazers’ Roy still questionable; will be game-time decision

TUALATIN, Ore. — Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy’s status is still listed as questionable, and he will be a game-time decision for tonight’s contest against the Orlando Magic at the Rose Garden.

Roy said his strained right hamstring still feels sore, and his action was limited during a morning shootaround at the team’s practice facility.

“I’ll see how it feels tonight,” Roy said. “I took some treatment today, and hopefully I’ll be ready to go. But I don’t know yet.”

Roy and Blazers coach Nate McMillan said the team must balance immediate concerns with long-term plans in evaluating whether Roy plays tonight. Ultimately, though, the final decision will come down to Roy.

Roy said he will make a final evaluation during pregame warmups. If Roy tries to run and immediately feels a sharp pull, he will sit out.

“It’s really not a matter of 50, 60 percent,” Roy said. “It’s really just how it feels. And right now, I still feel exactly where I was at when I grabbed it in the last game.”

McMillan said he trusts Roy to make an intelligent decision, and added that he thinks Roy will take the court.

“We listen to the player, and I listen to the trainer,” McMillan said. “And if we feel he’s at risk — a serious risk — then we’ll hold him, we’ll pull him. But they have to give us that feel for where they are and how they’re feeling.”
