From the press release: “NBA COACHES FOR KIDS” PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY FOR BOYS & GIRLS CLUB YOUTH TO ATTEND NBA GAMES

Roughly 1,000 Oregon kids to get free Trail Blazers tickets through Coaches Association program

PORTLAND, Ore. – For the second consecutive year, the National Basketball Coaches Association and the Boys & Girls Club of America are presenting “NBA Coaches for Kids,” a program that allows kids served by the Boys & Girls Club to attend NBA games.

The league-wide program – a 15-year, $15 million commitment – is funded in its entirety by NBA general managers, basketball staffs, coaches and athletic trainers, who provided more than 30,000 kids a chance to attend an NBA game last season.

”Our entire basketball staff is proud to support this great program,” Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan said. “Greg Oden is a great example of the youth positively influenced by The Boys & Girls Clubs; we are pleased to contribute to the continued development of young people throughout the area.”

Through the NBA Coaches for Kids program, about 1,000 kids from Boys & Girls clubs across Oregon and Southwest Washington will attend a Trail Blazers game this season, including a group of 200 from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santiam, Thurston County and Albany, who will attend the Trail Blazers game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, December 28.

Following the game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Penn will speak to the group about the importance of maintaining a positive and healthy lifestyle – part of the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of America and NBA Cares.

Through the generosity of the program, kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs will attend five Trail Blazers games this season:

November 8 vs. Minnesota: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santiam, Albany, Portland Metropolitan Area, Fort Lewis Youth Center and McChord Air Force Base Youth Center.

November 25 vs. New Jersey: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santiam, Albany and Portland Metropolitan Area.

November 27 vs. Memphis: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santiam, Albany, Southwest Washington and Fort Lewis Youth Center.

December 28 vs. Philadelphia: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santiam, Thurston County and Albany.

December 30 vs. L.A. Clippers: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santiam, Albany, Southwest Washington, Salem, Marion & Polk Counties and McChord Air Force Base Youth Center.
