Tanisha Harris had a good day on Thursday
Democrat Tanisha Harris has landed a significant endorsement in her bid to unseat state Rep. Vicki Kraft, R-Vancouver.
Harris, a Court Appointed Special Advocate program specialist with the YWCA Clark County, took to Facebook on Thursday to announce she’s been endorsed by Washington’s senior Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray.
“Thank you so much to Senator Patty Murray for you leadership and your endorsement! This is the year for women leadership!!” wrote Harris on her Facebook page.
This is Harris’ second bid for public office after narrowly narrowly losing her race for Clark County Council to Republican John Blom in 2016. She’s also competing with fellow Democrat and anti-poverty activist James Tolson.
According to campaign finance filings she’s raised $39,432, just behind Kraft’s $42,613 and well ahead of Tolson’s $4,440.
Here is the statement from Murray that Harris posted on her Facebook:
“I am proud endorse Tanisha Harris for State Rep. in the 17th LD. Southwest Washington deserves a strong voice in Olympia who will be a champion for all our families. Tanisha’s background and experience in education and non-profits will bring a much-needed perspective on the issues facing our state.”
