Carolyn Long earns another national endorsement

The race for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District is garnering more national attention. Democrat Carolyn Long, who’s trying to unseat Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, has racked up another national endorsement.

Long is one of nine women trying to unseat a Republican to earn the endorsement of the Daily Kos, a blog and internet forum with a focus on liberal politics.

“Daily Kos is thrilled to support these women as they fight to flip traditionally Republican House seats from red to blue,” said David Nir, political director of Daily Kos. “These candidates have demonstrated strong commitments to progressive values through work in and on behalf of their communities. As members of Congress, these leaders will bring the diverse voices all Americans need and deserve to Washington.”

Nir added that the targeted candidates are running in “challenging but winnable districts.”

“I’m thrilled to have the support of the Daily Kos and the millions of grassroots activists in their network as we work to put People Over Politics in southwest Washington,” Long said in a press release. “We’ve had tremendous support in all corners of our district since the start of our campaign, and I’m excited that folks from all over the country are now joining our fight to restore responsive representation to the people of Washington’s 3rd district.”
