GAME NOTES: Battle Ground went 1-8 in 2017. The Tigers placed fifth in the 4A Greater St. Helens League. The Tigers open the season with three games away from District Stadium. LB Colin Friese returns healthy after missing seven games last year with a broken foot. OL/DL Blake Harris is the lone returning all-leaguer. Bethel went 9-2 in 2017. The Braves placed second in the 3A Pierce County League. Bethel lost to Ferndale 42-14 in the first round of the 3A state tournament. QB Nate Hughes is the catalyst for the Braves. He passed for 2,065 yards and 34 touchdowns last season. He was the 3A PCL offensive player of the year. RB Solomon Danny was also a all-PCL first-team pick.
