Prep football preview: West Valley-Yakima (0-2) vs. Heritage (2-0)
NON-LEAGUE GAME
WHEN, WHERE: 4 p.m. Saturday at McKenzie Stadium
LAST WEEK: West Valley-Yakima lost to Chiawana 42-20; Heritage beat Evergreen 9-0.
GAME NOTES: Heritage’s pass defense will face its biggest test of the year to date. West Valley QB Brandon Battle has thrown for 717 yards and 7 TDs. He also has one rushing TD. Cody Allen had TD receptions of 77 and 27 yards last week. But West Valley also gave up 334 rushing yards and six TDs to Chiawana’s Andrew Vargas. Heritage RB Tashiem Hurse leads Clark County in rushing with 316 yards but no TDs. And that’s been an issue for the Timberwolves – converting big plays and long drives into touchdowns. Luckily, the Heritage defense has played very well, allowing just 12 points in the first two games. This is third consecutive year Heritage has opened 2-0. They finished 2-7 the past two years.
