Democrats tap Cleveland to lead on health care issues

State Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, speaks at a public meeting in March about the Columbia River Crossing.

Democrats picked Sen. Annette Cleveland, of Vancouver, to lead their caucus on health care issues.

She was picked to be the ranking member of the Senate Health Care Committee this week. She will continue to serve on the Senate Transportation and Energy, Environment and Telecommunications Committees.

“Good health is one of the three pillars, along with education and meaningful employment, of successful households and thriving communities,” Cleveland, who has served on the committee since her election to the Senate in 2012, said in a statement. “As ranking member, I look forward to being even better able to help ensure that the people of our district and in communities across the state have access to affordable, reliable health care.”
