Ballot returns hovering around 13 percent

With less than a week to go before the general election, about 13.2 percent of eligible Clark County voters have returned their ballots.

Of the 250,687 ballots mailed out, 33,130 have been returned to the Clark County Elections Office. This time last year, 36,227 of 251,835 eligible voters had submitted their ballots for a voter turnout of about 14.4 percent.

We’re actually doing a little better than the state rate at the moment. Of 3,370,920 ballots issued across the state, 343,238 have been returned, for a return rate of 10.2 percent, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

There’s always a last push on Election Day—last year the Elections Office reported more than 10,000 17,000 returned ballots—so that number is likely to shoot up next week. For full elections coverage, including a map showing where you can drop your ballot off up to and on Election Day, click here.
