Longest-session ever

Back in January, Rep. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver, said he was keeping his apartment in Olympia through June.

But even he was surprised lawmakers could stretch the 2015 legislative session through July.

It feels like the longest legislative session ever. And guess what? It is!

Lawmakers are in the midst of a third special legislative session. Initially, they were scheduled to adjourn in April.

APRIL!

They are now at day 172.

It’s the longest they have been in session in a single year since 1853, when Washington became a territory, according to information from the Secretary of State.

The longest session that spanned more than one year was in 1975 to 1976 and 229 days.
