Four Peas in a Pod Produce – Keeping it Local

I’m passionate about supporting our local farmers. It just makes sense. From a monetary standpoint — you’ll spend half your money buying local produce – AND — your hard earned dollar stays right here, growing your own economy. From a quality standpoint, it’s a no brainer – buy your produce that was grown in another country, shipped from state to state, and tossed into the grocery store wrapped in twine and plastic – OR – take a nice stroll through your farmers market and/or local produce stand, purchasing fresh produce picked that morning.

Saving money, “Occupying” your own Economy AND gaining Quality? I like the sound of that!

I recently visited with Ray & Amy Yost, owners of ‘Four Peas in a Pod’. Together, with their two ‘Sweet Peas’ – daughter, Kenzie (18) & son, Hunter (13) — they run a produce stand outside their home in Felida, WA.

After testing the waters in 2011, growing and selling produce to family & friends, The Yost’s jumped in with both feet. They’ve dedicated themselves to an acre in Ridgefield WA, where a majority of their produce is grown.

A lettuce filled hoop house, at their residence and selling location in Felida WA, reflects their hard work and dedication to grow crops in a natural and local environment. Gearing up for a busy and bountiful 2012 season, Four Peas in a Pod will offer nearly 3 dozen varieties of produce.

Ray likes to spend most of his time planting and harvesting at their Ridgefield property. He’s learned a thing or two from his Dad, Ron Yost (pictured below) over the years. Ron is also a farmer.

You’ll often find Amy running the produce stand in Felida, excited to visit with and serve their customers. Kenzie and Hunter (pictured below) have followed in their Grandpa Ron’s footsteps as well, enjoying working the fields alongside Dad and selling the freshly picked produce with Mom.

The Yost’s have built their business on honesty & integrity. Though not Certified Organic, they respect and practice Organic growing. They’ve taken steps to ensure that their customers are receiving topnotch quality produce – NO GMO’s – NO CHEMICALS – NO PESTICIDES.
